Mental Health and ESL Classroom: A Guide for Teachers Working with Refugees - Produced by the International Institute of Boston and Immigration and Refugee Services of America with support from the Office of Refugee Resettlement, this article contains important information on the various aspects of refugee mental health issues and how they may affect the classroom environment; discusses the role of a teacher (or, in the Refugee Family Strengthening workshop setting, a facilitator) in a multicultural environment.

 

Lessons From the Field:  Issues and Resources in Refugee Mental Health - Written by the National Alliance for Multicultural Mental Health, this is a comprehensive research article focusing on the various aspects of refugee mental health; highlights specific refugee groups: Somali, Bosnian and Kurdish.

 

Creating Participatory Photonovels: A Classroom Guide - This article introduces and provides a "how-to" for a creative classroom technique to explore or re-enforce life skills education with students who may have varying or minimal levels of literacy or may not be proficient in English yet. 

 

Cultivating Healthy Couple and Marital Relationships: A Guide to Effective Programming - “Offers theoretically and empirically informed implications for designing, delivering, and evaluating relationship and marriage education programs for diverse audiences.”

 

Healthy Marriage Series - Contains booklets, slideshows, and videos focusing on several topics regarding marriage such as health, marriage education, children, and responsible fatherhood.
