How Can I Help?
Our national agencies are always looking for dedicated volunteers to take part in the refugee resettlement process. Volunteers play a key role in the process of refugees establishing new lives in the United States. HIAS has affiliates all over the country that can use YOUR help now.
Things you can do:
- Teach English at an ESL Class.
- Drive refugees to doctor appointments and job interviews.
- Help write and edit resumes and employment applications.
- Work on immersion activities with refugee families. This could include going food shopping, to a park, a movie theater or a mall with a refugee.
- Assist refugee children with schoolwork.
Donations are always welcome.
Refugees in your area might be in need of goods and materials that you already have! New or gently used furniture, beds, cooking utensils, clothing, shoes, and other everyday items are always appreciated by our affiliates.
